Why "gtengineer"?
People have asked me how did you think of and choose the username "gtengineer?" I graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a result, I am a gtengineer.
Long Awaited Blog Posting
Well I started this blog about nine months or so ago and am now getting to my second posting. Clearly, I'm not a hardcore blogger. Recently, I have posted a couple of videos on Youtube so I guess I am making progress on at least one front. I did buy a new HD camcorder so that should help.
2011 was a good year for me. Work kept me pretty busy. I did find some time get out and hit the range. Lately, I've been planning some things I want to accomplish in 2012. While I am usually not a planner, I do think it is nice to have some goals. For example, in 2012 I hope to buy a house, spend a week at the Sig Sauer Academy, perform a 1,000 yard shot (at the Sig Academy), and get up to the Smokey Mountains and do some hiking and camping. As I complete some of the things on my goals list I'll do my best to blog about them.

My First Blog Posting
Well, after all the thinking and procrastinating, I've decided to create a blog. I've actually been spending some time checking out other people's blogs and getting a sense of what others blog about. I would say that some people really do blog about nothing, but if a person is interested in a topic and takes the time to blog about it, then I guess it is important to them. Besides, I'm sure people will look at my blog (probably not a lot of people) and think I'm blogging about lame things.
So what are some things I plan to blog about? Actually, I don't really see a set of topics I'll try to focus on. More than likely it'll just be random topics. I'm sure that a pattern will eventually develop. That being said, I must say I've been very impressed with the blog of "The Traveler" (www.faliaphotography.com). I actually stumbled upon her blog after seeing some of her videos on Youtube while looking for IWB (inside the waistband) holsters. She blogs about things I enjoy such has traveling, camping, target shooting, etc. I also see me posting some blogs about past experiences such as my experiences living in Minnesota for three years after being born and raised in Georgia.
Well, I think this is enough for my first blog posting. I'm sure I'll find some other stuff to post later, but for now, this will have to do. Plus, I want to play around with the settings and get my blog configured the way I like it.
Please feel free to follow me, leave comments, provide feedback, and all that other good stuff.
